When the First Emperor of Chinas terracotta army was buried, this kneeling archer was carrying a crossbow, ready to fire at the enemy. Thats why his hands are positioned the way they are in the drawing.

But 2,200 years later, the wooden bow has turned to dust. And the bright colours he was originally painted have been washed away.
